You can give your lists any types you want, since the types are just names. By default, we've provided three for you: Shopping, To Do, and Appointments. But these are just suggestions – feel free to use your own. For instance, you might want to separate your grocery shopping and hardware shopping lists, since you wouldn't often buy them at the same store.

Each type has an option indicating whether the lists using that type have dates. By default, the Appointments list is set up this way. You can change this option for any type using the tools menu in the main screen. Just tap the Edit List Types button, tap the name of the list, and change the Items have dates switch.
